Welcome to Edges of Glory

Meet the figure skating champions of today, tomorrow, and yesterday. You know their scores, but do you know their stories?

Our mission is to spotlight the figure skating champions of today, tomorrow, and yesterday - from local kids to Grand Prix competitors to Olympic gold medalists, you'll get to know these amazing human beings beyond their scores and step sequences. Not only will we feature interviews with skaters and coaches, but we'll be shining a light on some of the unsung heroes of the skating world, including photographers, journalists, designers, artists, and other lovers of skating.

If you love figure skating and want to know more about the people "behind the blades," then Edges of Glory for you.

This website is called Edges of Glory because the term "edges of glory" describes the two main groups of skaters and skating personnel we interview: 1) those who are on the edge - or verge - of glory and are just getting started in their careers, and 2) those whose edges have already seen glory (aka Olympians).

Taking after ice dance, the 4 "key points" of our website, so to speak, are:

1. INTERVIEW skaters, coaches, and other important players in the figure skating world

2. HIGHLIGHT the next generation of champions and support them as they begin their journeys

3. CREATE a community of both skaters and fans who are passionate about all things figure skating

4. INSPIRE more people to get involved in skating, whether it's watching competitions or stepping onto the ice

ALY LEIA WEIN (Founder, Editor-in-Chief) launched Edges of Glory in the 2018-19 season with a mission to share the stories of the extraordinary humans who make up the figure skating community, through a more in-depth, personal lens. With a background in the performing, visual, and literary arts, Aly decided to combine her passions for writing and figure skating. Edges of Glory focuses on long-form profiles of skaters, coaches, photographers, commentators, and more - anyone and everyone involved with this beautiful, chaotic sport - while also covering competitions and reporting on news. Aly is a member of the National Sports Media Association (NSMA) and the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) and has been accredited media at domestic and international competitions and ice shows. Events attended include Skate America, U.S. Nationals, Canadian Nationals, Stars on Ice, Rock The Rink, and more. Aly studied public relations and theatre at Baldwin Wallace University in Cleveland, Ohio, and has worked in the production, social media, and marketing fields, in addition to being a freelance writer and photographer. When she’s not watching the ISU’s Tea-Time Foxtrot Seminar for fun, Aly is a Disneyland Annual Passholder and a lover of all things musical theatre.
